Art Room Sinks!

I think after 3 years in this classroom, I have finally figured out a system that works for both myself and my students when it comes to keeping the art room sinks clean!

Everything from the paintbrushes to the paint rags has a place to be...and if the students don't remember hopefully the signs will help...wishful thinking :)

Art Room Finalized!!

Last school year when I came to TGP my classroom was a hot mess, it had been used as a storage room for old furniture once the pervious art teacher had left.  There were art projects, materials, and their storage containers that were older than most of our kindergarteners.  After a much needed scrub down and a whirlwind of a first year, I was able to work over the summer and set up a classroom that would (I think) better suit the students and myself.

There it is! An actual ART Room! 

The elements of art are painted along the wall above the windows.  The principles of design are posted above the SMART board.  The table legs are all painted for table groups. All classroom management posters (rules, expectations, guidelines, etc.) are posted. And there is a student center in the far left corner of the room (for indoor recess and early finishers).  Okay, 2013-2014 school year I am ready for you!

 The ART Room is done.

(for the most part) 

Needless to say this past year I have slacked on updating and posting on my class blog.  However, I feel that I have finally gotten to a point where I have settled into my classroom and school and I am now able to begin writing on this blog again! Yay!!!

With the school year at an end I have had time to try and make my classroom more of my own space.  

I spent the first 2 weeks of my summer vacation painting my classroom to make it look more like an Art Room.  

The art teacher that preceded me in my classroom made a very lovely mural on the wall. However, it just wasn't my style...I tend to like more color in my artwork.

It took about 6 days of priming, drawing, and painting to complete my designs but I am happy with how it looks.

My mom and I worked very hard to get this done; we even had a few chances for photo ops.
There I am standing on a ladder, working hard to outline my letters.

Done!!! Finished!!! Thank Goodness!!!

THANKS MOM, for all your help!  Couldn't have done this as quickly without you! I am very happy with this new wall in my room and can't wait to make more changes to this room so it is a better fit my students and myself.

Hi fellow art teachers and bloggers, I am very excited to say that the start of the school year is here and I am not afraid to admit this...I still have soooo much to prepare.

I was lucky enough to inherit the room of the pervious art teacher so the set-up is right and there are tons of left over supplies but now it comes down to making this room my own!!!!!
